Clariflocculators


Shivpad Clariflocculator incorporates   the   flocculator and clarifier in one compact unit. Agglomeration of the destabilised colloids is achieved as  a  result  of particle transport in   the   inner   flocculation   unit.  Clarification  occurs  in  the outer clarifier unit.

Flocculation, radial and upward flow sedimentation and positive sludge removal combined in a single tank operation is one of the salient features of this equipment.

Shivpad Clariflocculator consists of concentric compartments.  The inner compartment is the flocculation chamber and the outer compartment is the clarifier.  The chemically dosed water enters the centre of the flocculator unit and is uniformly distributed over the surface of the flocculation compartment for effective utilization of the available volume of flocculation.

 

Slow moving vertical paddles connected to flocculator arms are driven by an independent drive anticlockwise whereas another set of paddles connected to clarifier arms rotate clockwise is much slower speed which provide gentle mixing enhancing flocculation of the feed suspended solids.

The flocculated matter then passes out from the bottom of the flocculation tank wall at a very low velocity into the clarifier zone.  The heavy particles settle to the bottom and clear water flows into the peripheral launder.

The entire area of the tank floor is provided with scraping mechanism connected through a peripheral driven rotating bridge which facilitates raking the deposited sludge to the central sludge pocket.  The sludge from central sludge pocket can be easily discharged by gravity taking advantage of the hydrostatic head available in the main tank either  directly or through a telescopic sludge discharge pipe assembly.

CLARIFLOCCULATOR - TYPE SPF - B

Primarily, the process function of this equipment remains same.  These units are provided with a peripheral driven rotating bridge combined with independently rotating flocculator units that provide gentle stirring for flocculation.  The flocculated particles while sweeping through the major volume of flocculator compartment, impinge upon and entrap light suspended particles and finally grow to heavier large sized particles which settle down in clarifier zone easily.  The number of flocculator mechanisms will vary depending upon the diameter of the machine.  The scrapers provided from the rotating bridge ensure positive raking of deposited sludge to central sludge pocket and subsequent disposal by gravity.  The sludge withdrawal through telescopic sludge discharge pipe is generally optional.

The liquid depth of Clariflocculators depend upon the character of sludge handled, storage capacity required and cost.  Depths commonly used by Shivpad vary 2.5M to 4M. Greater depths can, however, be used where sludge consists mainly of inorganic matter and stored for longer periods.

CLARIFLOCCULATOR TYPE SPF – C.

For Clariflocculators of smaller sizes ranging upto 10M diameter, Shivpad offers units of tpe SPF-C. These units consist of the flocculator paddles attached to a central shaft which is a hollow seamless pipe, housing the drive shaft for the clarifier rake arms as well.  There are two separate drive arrangements for the flocculator and clarifier.  These units are provided with fabricated steel flocculator compartment suspended from the bridge whereas the other model units are with RCC / brickwork flocculator compartments.
